Live By God’s Truth

[original text in italics]

From the previous sections we saw that people will weaken and deteriorate from an unrenewed mind that is expressed through carnal emotions. We looked at how to put these feelings and fear under our feet in order to walk in undoubting faith. We also looked at how to eliminate them and walk in peace and rest.

Other ways that carnal emotions come and war against our faith is when believers are preoccupied with what the five senses of the body tells them about health, relationships, finances, and life.

We are not to be led by what our senses tell us but by the Spirit of truth. Don’t let your senses determine your thoughts or they will turn into carnal sentiments, fear, and anxiety. We can change the facts of what senses tell us with God’s truth and all that Jesus accomplished on our behalf. We must come out of agreement with things contrary to the Word of God, including what our senses tell us. Therefore, set yourself free by putting to death the deeds of the flesh by the spirit:

ROMANS 8:13-4 …but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds [functions, practices] of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

If you are having trouble becoming free, you can be set free by believers with unwavering faith. When such a person ministers to you, demonic spirits lose power (ability) over you. Once you are free, the enemy has to lie to you to get you to believe he still has power. He does this by poking (prodding, jabbing) at you. The more you believe he has power over you, the more he gains ability. That’s because you are letting the enemy gain power through his schemes. If you give in to these attacks, then your mind has not been renewed in that area. Therefore, resist this manipulation technique and it will bow to the name of Jesus:

JAMES 4:7-8 Therefore submit [place or put under rank] to God. Resist [take a strong complete stand against] the devil and he will flee [escape] from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

So what do you when you are set free and the enemy still pokes at you and the senses of your body still show symptoms? You stand on God’s truth whether your body “feels” different or not. You eliminate self-infliction from negative words and wavering thoughts. Faith is not a feeling - it’s a knowing. Stay in agreement with the Word. If a symptom starts, you say:

“No! No! No! It’s not going to happen. It does not end this way. I was healed. Therefore I am healed. Body be whole in Jesus’ Name!”

Be proactive while being in God’s peace and rest (see section Be In Peace & Rest).
